Internship Opportunity
Our summer internship program is an excellent opportunity to tie what you have learned in the classroom into real-world experience. The program consists of an 11-week immersion into Werner Enterprises.
Internship Overview :

Responsibilities :
Core Audit SupportAssist with the planning of internal audits.Perform walkthroughs and document current processes.Gather, organize, and analyze financial, operational, and IT data.Conduct testing of internal controls and document results.Prepare workpapers that support audit findings and conclusions.Compliance & Risk MonitoringHelp assess compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Support risk assessments by identifying potential areas of exposure.Track remediation progress on prior audit issues.Reporting & DocumentationDraft sections of audit reports, including observations and recommendations.Summarize audit findings in a clear, concise manner for review by senior auditors.Maintain audit files with appropriate evidence and version control.Collaboration & Learning :
Collaborate closely with senior auditors and process owners.Attend interviews and meetings with department leaders to understand business operations.Participate in internal audit training, workshops, or team discussions.Technology & Data AnalyticsUse audit tools (Excel, Word, Workiva, Edge, PeopleSoft, AS400, etc.) to perform data testing.Assist in preparing dashboards and visualizations for audit findings.Support IT audits (e.g., user access, system controls) when assigned.Professional DevelopmentLearn internal audit standards (IIA Standards, SOX, COSO framework).Gain exposure to business processes across finance, operations, IT, and compliance.Build communication and presentation skills through delivering updates to audit leadership.Internship Development Activities :
