Job Description

The Role The Production Planner drives business-critical analyses and research for Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics. This role serves as the primary liaison for finishing operations, ensuring that production capabilities align perfectly with business unit demands and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Master Scheduling & Planning

  • Master Schedule Development: Create and maintain the master production schedule to optimize planning, stocking, and final assembly rates.

  • Operational Oversight: Monitor fabrication and assembly sequences to provide guidance to production associates and ensure specification compliance.

  • Work Order Management: Prepare shop work orders and coordinate with schedulers to meet strict time requirements and production milestones.

  • Capacity Modeling: Develop capacity scenarios for peak season planning and production readiness to prevent bottlenecks.

Analytical Insight & Reporting

  • Distribution Studies: Conduct network studies to improve delivery times and order fill rates.

  • Efficiency Analysis: Perform comparative analyses to determine the most efficient options for inventory levels and production scheduling.

  • Trend Forecasting: Analyze manufacturing trends and prepare forecasts to increase overall productivity and resource allocation.

  • Data Integrity: Maintain accurate progress reports and operational records to provide visibility to site leadership.

Process Improvement & Liaison

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead ELS (Enterprise Lean System) projects to reduce waste and improve process quality using root-cause analysis (A3 Thinking).

  • Business Liaison: Serve as the primary focal point for the business unit to ensure scheduling needs and policy interpretations are met.

  • Stakeholder Interface: Coordinate with customers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure all external requirements and service levels are achieved.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Finance, or Supply Chain Management (or 3+ years of direct scheduling/planning experience).

  • Technical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical mindset; ability to document and improve complex manufacturing processes.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills; ability to lead through ambiguity and define requirements with cross-functional groups.

  • Mindset: Proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable initiating change in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: APICS (CPIM/CSCP), ELS, or Lean Green Belt preferred.

  • Experience: Experience in a high-volume manufacturing or "Jersey finishing" environment.

Teamwork & Safety

  • Safety First: Consistently work in a safe manner and support all health, safety, and housekeeping initiatives.
