POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Managing Director, Investor Relations (IR) is a senior leader responsible for shaping, executing, and advancing the company's investor relations strategy as FedEx Freight transitions into an independent public enterprise. Reporting to the VP, Treasurer & IR Lead, the MD, IR will be the primary liaison between the company's executive leadership, board of directors, analysts, institutional investors, rating agencies, and other capital-market stakeholders
This role ensures that the company's financial story, strategic narrative, business model, and governance are effectively communicated to the investment community - supporting credibility, valuation, shareholder confidence, and access to capital. In the context of the spin-off, the MD, IR will also play a key role in building a stand-alone IR infrastructure (investor presentations, roadshows, digital channels, external engagements) and establishing best-in-class IR practices from Day 1 onward
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and lead the overall Investor Relations strategy for FedEx Freight, aligning with the company's business strategy, capital-markets positioning, and governance agenda
- Partner with the VP, Treasurer & IR Lead, CFO, CAO, and corporate strategy functions to ensure consistent, cohesive messaging around financial performance, strategy, capital structure, liquidity, risk, and growth
- Serve as trusted advisor to senior leadership and the board on investor perspectives, market sentiment, investor targeting, equity story development and investor expectations
Investor Engagement & External Communications
Lead investor and analyst engagement activities, including earnings-call preparation, investor roadshows, non-deal roadshows, investor conferences, rating-agency meetings, and one-on-one investor meetingsManage the creation of investor-presentation materials, FAQs, website IR content, fact sheets, and other communications that effectively articulate the company's strategy, financial results, business model, competitive advantages, and risk profileMonitor and analyze investor-base composition, share-holder expectations, analyst coverage, capital-markets trends, peer benchmarking, and investor feedback; use insights to refine IR strategy and provide recommended actions to leadershipEnsure timely, accurate and transparent disclosure of financial- and business-related information; support the disclosure process, work with Legal, CAO and treasury to ensure compliance and alignment with regulatory and corporate-governance requirementsSpin-Off & Stand-Alone IR Infrastructure
Lead build-out of FedEx Freight's IR infrastructure in connection with the spin-off, including independent investor-relations processes, tools, outreach models, digital platforms, and internal governance structuresCollaborate with the treasury / capital-markets team to prepare for Day 1 investor readiness, including equity / stakeholder communications, investor-roadmap development, credit-rating liaison, and launch-of IR efforts by the newly independent companyEstablish metrics and dashboards for IR performance (e.g., investor-engagement levels, analyst-coverage breadth, sentiment scores, share-holder mix, market-valuation trends) and provide regular reporting to leadership and boardCross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
Work across finance, strategy, communications, legal and investor-relations partners to ensure consistency of internal and external messaging and alignment of investor communications with business strategy and operational messagingPartner with the treasury and corporate-finance teams on the company's capital-markets strategy, financing activities, credit-rating agency engagement, and investor-message alignmentMaintain close coordination with the CAO and external auditors on investor-disclosure matters and financial-reporting impacts; support the IR role in addressing investor questions on accounting, audit, and governance topicsTeam Leadership & Development
Lead and build out the IR team (including the proposed Manager level and support functions) to deliver high-quality investor engagement execution; develop and mentor team members with an emphasis on leadership, technical competence, stakeholder management, and IR best practicesEstablish team KPIs (e.g., investor-meeting counts, analyst-coverage changes, sentiment improvements, IR-website traffic, perception benchmarking) and track performance against targetsFoster a culture of transparency, responsiveness, operational excellence, and continuous improvement in investor-relations executionQUALIFICATIONS : Education :
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree (MBA, MSc Finance) preferredProfessional certifications such as CFA, CIPR (Certified Investor Relations Professional) or similar strongly preferredExperience and Skills
10+ years of progressive experience in investor relations, capital markets, corporate finance, or equity research within large, publicly listed, complex organizationsUnderstanding of U.S. GAAP / IFRS financial disclosures, SEC reporting (10-K / 10-Q / 8-K), investor engagement protocols, and capital-markets dynamicsProven ability to craft compelling investor narratives, translate financial and operational metrics into investor language, and influence senior executives and board membersEffective communication skills, written and verbal, capable of interacting with executives, board, investors and analysts with credibility and executive presenceExcellent relationship-building skills, strategic mindset, and comfort operating in ambiguous, transformative environments (such as a spin-off)Relevant technology fluency (investor-relations platforms, webcasts, digital investor portals, presentation tools) and experience leveraging analytics to drive IR outcomesJOB CONDITIONS :
