The Senior Product Designer (AI) (Senior Product Designer) works with our Product Managers, customers, end-users, and engineers. The Senior Product Designer is a critical leader in the design and delivery of world-class data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled products for our customers. Leveraging experience and passion for healthcare, technology, and solving customer problems, this role will apply user-centered and outcomes-focused design approaches to creating remarkable data science and AI-enabled solutions.

Location : Charlotte, NC

Department : Institute for Innovation and AI

Leverages key principles from Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG / Marty Cagan et al) to lead holistic design responsibilities across the spectrum of User Research, User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI), Prototyping, User Testing, and Interaction and Visual Design domains.

Collaborates with product team leaders to create effective solutions to the problems the team is asked to solve, with primary responsibility for Usability of the product features and the overall customer experience with our products.

Share in the responsibility of our products achieving the target outcomes for the business problems meant to solve.

Be a key leader in the continuous Product Discovery and Product Delivery lifecycle to ideate, prototype, launch, learn, and increasingly improve each iteration of our technology products.

What We're Looking For

Education : 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Product Design related coursework or certifications highly preferred.

Experience :

Minimum five years in web / mobile / software Product Design, required.

Minimum three years in Healthcare or a related industry, required.

Minimum three years strong experience building data science and AI-enabled products, required.

Experience using AI / GenAI tools in performing Product Design tasks, preferred.

Experience with Epic UX / UI or similar leading EHR / EMR is also highly preferred.

Additional Skills (required) :

• Product Lifecycle Experience : Full Product Development Lifecycle experience is required, including the ability to share specific examples of how you’ve : worked with Product Managers and Engineers to understand and articulate customer problems and business opportunities (e.g., personas, journey maps, etc.); ideated on potential solution options by representing and producing the necessary deliverables across Product Design domains (UX, UI, Interaction, Visual); prototyped or experimented to learn, address risks, verify assumptions, and obtain early customer feedback; produced product designs that targeted specific outcomes; measured product performance against target outcomes, and made needed product design adjustments in follow-on iterations.
• Product Skills & Successes : More than just words on a page, you can articulate specific examples from your recent past that demonstrate your success as a Senior Product Designer, such as : Here’s what Products I’ve shipped : Who it’s for (customers / users / personas) What it does (features / capabilities) Why it matters (value / what problem it solves) Here’s what Outcomes I’ve delivered : How many users I impacted / How and how much I impacted them What new capabilities I enabled / What new value I created that didn’t exist before What metrics I moved the needle on (e.g., usage up XX%; adoption up YY%; conversions up ZZ%; time / steps saved by QQ%; etc.) Here’s how I made Product Design Decisions : I got customer input and feedback via XYZ methods I prioritized roadmap / features / tradeoffs by… I justified / defended my decisions with…
• Technical Experience : Proven experience designing and delivering successful data science and AI-enabled product solutions is required. Extensive web and / or mobile application product design required. Solid familiarity with modern security best practices. Experience using product telemetry and analysis tools.

Additional Skills (preferred) :

Experience with User-Centered Design (IxDF), Design Thinking (IDEO U), Behavioral Economics (Irrational Labs), and / or Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG) methodologies are all highly preferred.

Experience using AI / GenAI tools to bolster the product design process, such as during product ideation, product research and analysis, and / or prototyping
