Position : Real Estate Construction Associate Attorney

Location : Century City or Orange County, CA

Firm Type : Am Law 200 Firm

Experience Level : 3–4 years

Position Overview

Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate to join a leading Am Law 200 firm in its Century City or Orange County office. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly regarded real estate team on sophisticated construction-related transactions and development matters.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including :

Architect and design contracts

Engineering and consulting agreements

Construction contracts and licenses

Easements, development management, and project management agreements

Collaborate closely with clients, developers, project managers, and internal teams

Provide guidance on risk mitigation and legal compliance in development projects

Support broader real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing as needed

Conduct title and survey review and general due diligence

Contribute to team development through mentorship and collaboration

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

3–4 years of relevant experience in construction and development transactions

Familiarity with data center leasing is a plus, but not required

Experience in a major law firm environment strongly preferred

Admission to the California Bar

Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills

Self-starter capable of managing significant individual responsibilities while working collaboratively

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range : $225,000 – $250,000, commensurate with experience
