The Building Science Consultant acts as a program's technical expert by supporting residential programs. This includes developing training materials, using building rating tools, conducting audits and creating / interpreting / implementing measure specifications.

Positions are available in the following territories : Bay City, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. Candidates must live in or within a reasonable commuting distance from their territory.

Act as an on-site representative for customers.

Provide building science adjustments to measures from contractors.

Ensure program designs reflect actual installation guidelines.

Develop technical training materials and conduct trainings to internal and external participants.

Serve as organization technical spokesperson.

Deliver trade ally training.

Evaluate and understands project risks.

Assist in documenting observations regarding project scope, planning and effectiveness of products and services.

QCs complex measure and modeling runs.

Assist in developing protocols for interpretation of specifications, guidelines, manuals and technical requirements.

Assist in developing QA / QC protocols for field inspections and install documentation.

Perform post-work inspections of contractor installed energy efficiency measures.

Review documents for technical accuracy and sound building science practices.

Extensive travel within a defined territory in a company provided vehicle.

5+ years of relevant industry experience required (eg. HVAC, electrical, residential construction, building energy modeling, energy audits).

BS in Building Science and / or Building Science Institute (BPI) certification preferred.

Excellent communication, organizational, mathematical, and documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail.

High school diploma.

Valid drivers license.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Target Compensation :

80,000 - $100,000 / annually + bonus

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data / ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD / technology), for example.
