Engineering Intern
This position performs a variety of tasks to support the design and preparation of plans and specifications for municipal infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on streets and roadways. Under the direction of the Village Engineer, the Engineering Intern works closely with other Engineering staff to aid in various aspects of construction projects, regulatory compliance, and site investigations.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to :
- Perform pavement condition surveys and data entry for the PAVER pavement management system.
- Assist with construction oversight / inspection, plan preparation, various aspects of construction, various inspections, and contract and regulatory compliance.
- Perform sanitary manhole inspections for inflow and infiltration reporting.
- Perform surveying and data collection independently and as part of a team.
- Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment; report malfunctions to supervisor.
Qualifications :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with leadership abilities and a positive attitude.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to work both independently and in groups, follow safe work practices, and demonstrate excellence in customer service.Ability to tolerate both inside and outside environmental conditions. Position is performed under fluctuating and extreme temperatures, with some exposure to noise.Must be eligible for employment in the U.S. and pass a pre-employment background check and medical and drug screening (including cannabis).Education, Experience and Licenses :
Must be 18 or older and enrolled as a full-time student in college for fall 2026.Qualified candidates must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in engineering or science with an emphasis in civil, geotechnical, environmental, or related engineering field. Candidates majoring in civil engineering strongly preferred. Candidates who have completed at least one year in an accredited engineering program preferred.Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license is required.Salary : $20.00 per hour.
Hours : Monday through Friday, 7 : 30 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m.
Employment Duration : 3 months (summer 2026).
