Job Description
Job Summary :
Estimator for a mid-size regional AISC certified steel fabricator focused on electrical substation and industrial markets. The estimator role is a key member of our pre-construction team as they review potential projects and prepare bid pricing / proposals for our customers. Tasks will vary from project to project as needed – document review, direct quantity takeoffs, defining scopes of work, solicitation and follow-up for subcontractor / vendor pricing. This role has strong growth potential as Lockport Steel continues their positive grow strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Follow established Lockport Steel pre-construction group policies and procedures
- Review project documents and develop strong knowledge of project scope and all requirements
- Prepare structural steel and misc metals quantity takeoffs
- Prepare detailed scope of work documentation
- Support pre-con team as needed with preparation of estimate summaries
Education and Experience :
Strong interest in working for a Structural Steel fabricator / subcontractorStrong interest in being part of a pre-construction team focused on estimating workProficient with architectural / structural blueprint readingStrong computer skills, proficient with learning new software applicationsExperience with structural steel / misc metals preferredEducation : BS Structural or Civil Engineering is preferredCandidate must be driven and assertive with strong written, verbal communication skillsAbility to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environmentHighly organized, detail-oriented individual with the ability to follow up on tasks without daily guidanceAbility to effectively manage a high volume of tasks / requests in a professional mannerSalary commensurate with years of experience and qualificationsCompetitive Total Rewards :
