Schedule : Friday through Sunday, 7 : 00 a.m. – 7 : 00 p.m.

Summary

The RN II provides competent, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This role requires critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to manage both routine and unexpected situations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate patient and family-centered care.
• Apply the Arkansas Children’s (AC) Model of Patient and Family-Centered Care to address the physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients and families.
• Follow hospital policies, professional standards, and the state Nurse Practice Act to provide competent technical and procedural nursing care.
• Communicate effectively through clear documentation, patient hand-offs, interdisciplinary rounds, and team collaboration to ensure continuity of care.
• Assess patients comprehensively, anticipating needs and incorporating appropriate play or diversional activities.
• Analyze patient and family data to identify problems, evaluate patterns, and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Provide individualized patient and family education, assessing learning needs and documenting all teaching activities.
• Apply evidence-based nursing practice, integrating the best available research, patient and family preferences, and team expertise.
• Evaluate personal performance, seek professional development opportunities, and contribute to peer evaluations.
• Participate in shared decision-making, councils, and interdisciplinary initiatives to enhance patient care and nursing practice.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation, evaluating new technologies, and contributing to quality initiatives.
• Advocate for patients, families, and the healthcare team as needed.
• Mentor, coach, and teach fellow healthcare professionals and students.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and community outreach activities that promote health and wellness.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN) License – Arkansas or Compact State License.
