The UNC Department of Neurology

is looking for a Pediatric Surgical Epileptologist to join their

team.

Clinical

Responsibilities :

• Providing medical

services

during rotations on :

o Inpatient general

child neurology

o Inpatient epilepsy

monitoring unit

o Reading routine and

stereo-electroencephalograms

o Evoked

potentials

o Long-term video

electroencephalograms

pre-surgical pediatric epilepsy diagnostic

evaluations

neurology and epilepsy specialty outpatient

clinics

Preferred Qualifications,

Competencies, and Experience

Skills :

o Epilepsy surgery multi-modal

diagnostic evaluations

o Planning for

localization of stereo EEG

Interpretation of stereo EEG

Multidisciplinary surgical approach planning with

neurosurgery

o Includes laser interstitial

thermal ablation

o Deep brain stimulation

options for pediatric patients

Educational and Professional Requirements :

o MD / DO or equivalent degree

o Completed

both a child neurology residency and an epilepsy sub-specialty

fellowship in accredited programs

Licensure :

o Licensed or eligible for

medical licensure in North Carolina

Technical Knowledge :

o Working knowledge

of scalp high-density electroencephalographic

recordings

o Subdural grid and depth

stereology for pre-surgical epilepsy

evaluations

Certification :

o ABPN Board Certified in

Child Neurology

o Board Certified / Eligible

in Epilepsy
