Job Summary :
Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, known for Ubuntu, is hiring a Software Support Engineer. The role involves resolving complex customer issues related to Ubuntu and other open source software, maintaining relationships with various teams, and participating in upstream communities.
Responsibilities :
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software.
- Maintain close relationships with Canonical's Field, Support, and Product Engineering teams.
- Participate in upstream communities.
- Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and collaborate with upstream projects for inclusion.
- Review code produced by other engineers.
- Exercise good judgment in technical methods and techniques.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation.
- Maintain clear, technical, and concise communication.
- Work remotely with up to 10% international travel for meetings, events, and conferences.
Qualifications : Required :
Exceptional academic record.Background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar fields.Experience with Linux and open source software.Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.Willingness to learn new technologies and troubleshoot complex issues.Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.Preferred :
A passion for technology and collaboration with talented people.Curiosity, flexibility, articulateness, and accountability.Soft skills such as passion, enterprise mindset, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.Interest or willingness to learn about Ubuntu Linux (kernel or userspace), Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU / KVM, LXC / LXD, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging, distributed systems.Company :
