Controller | Product Goods

Location : Charleston, SC (Relocation Assistance Available)

Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our high-end consumer products company based in Charleston, SC. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, managing a team of two, and partnering with senior leadership to support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in GAAP, financial reporting, and team development, with a hands-on approach and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, A / R, A / P, FP&A, and month-end close.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a small finance team (2 direct reports).
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and cost analysis related to consumer product sales.
  • Partner with operations and executive leadership to drive financial performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability within the finance function.
  • Support audits, banking relationships, and insurance renewals as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, or manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
