Natural Resources Public Agency Attorney (4++) – Sacramento, CA

A mid-sized, full-service law firm in Central California serves public entities and corporate clients. This role focuses on natural resources law.

Salary : $130,000 - $190,000 per year

Job Details

Responsibilities :

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and counsel to public agencies on natural resources law, including water, sewer, and land use.
  • Attend and contribute to public meetings, ensuring adherence to good governance law and promoting transparent and accountable decision making.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address legal and policy issues related to climate change, including adaptation and mitigation efforts.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to public finance law.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of environmental law issues, providing clear, concise, and practical legal advice.
  • Represent public agencies in litigation, administrative proceedings, and negotiations.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including engineers, scientists, and other legal experts, to ensure effective management and protection of natural resources.
  • Stay abreast of developments in natural resources law, public finance law, and related areas, and provide training and updates to clients and colleagues as necessary.
  • Qualifications :

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the state bar.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney, focusing on natural resources law, environmental law, public finance law, and / or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in attending and contributing to public meetings.
  • Proven track record in handling legal matters related to water, sewer, and land use.
  • Strong knowledge of climate change issues and the legal and policy responses to these challenges.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to promoting good governance and responsible management of natural resources.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
