Building Inspections Officer
The City of Mountain Brook is seeking a qualified Building Inspections Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing building, plumbing, electrical, and gas codes, as well as city zoning ordinances. The officer ensures that new and existing structures are safe for occupancy and comply with approved site requirements. Responsibilities include interacting with contractors, building trade professionals, homeowners, and the public to provide guidance on acceptable construction practices and to enforce code compliance. The role also involves maintaining records of specifications, plans, zoning appeals, complaints, subdivisions, approvals, and stop work orders.

Minimum Qualifications :
1. Driver's license.
2. Experience interpreting plans and structures for building code compliance (e.g., plumbing electrical, mechanical, carpentry).
3. Experience in at least one of the following areas :

Typical Job Duties :
Physical demands involve moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Work may involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Work is conducted both indoors in an office setting as well as during regular field visits to external places of business, residence, or construction worksites.
