Philanthropy Manager

Under the general direction of the Chief Tribal Operations & Communications Officer, the Philanthropy Manager serves as a strategic leader in advancing the Foundation's mission through effective grant-making, volunteer engagement, program oversight, and donor relations. This role translates vision into action by cultivating meaningful partnerships and delivering measurable, community-centered outcomes, while bringing deep expertise in philanthropic practices, thriving in a dynamic environment, and consistently modeling the Chumash core values of Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Customer Care, and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

Oversees planning and execution of the Foundation's operational budgets, giving programs, grant awards and management, and strategic planning to support impact, innovation, and sustainability.

Responsible for maintaining and fostering existing nonprofit relationships and developing strategic partnerships within the community.

Plans and develops programs and events designed to enhance charitable giving.

Collaborates with tribal leadership to develop and implement long-range philanthropic strategies that advance the Foundation's mission and vision, turning strategic priorities into actionable programs, events, and funding initiatives.

Creates detailed research profiles, including suggested approaches and strategies, for potential partnerships involving grant giving and volunteer opportunities.

Supports Chumash Museum fundraising goals through strategic donor engagement, stewardship, and cultivation activities.

Manages donor records and gift tracking systems, ensuring timely acknowledgments and impact communication.

Works closely with Museum team to align development strategies with exhibitions, cultural initiatives, and institutional goals.

Collects and analyzes programmatic data to inform strategic decision-making, continuous improvement, and transparent reporting.

Participates in the refinement of the Foundation's funding strategy in partnership with the Chief Tribal Operations & Communications Officer.

Manage the end-to-end grant cycle, from application review, to award disbursement, and post-award monitoring.

Ensures grantmaking aligns with strategic priorities and adheres to compliance, reporting, and performance expectations.

Maintains strong relationships with grantees, providing support and guidance to enhance program success.

Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback / management, and team member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Organizational Awareness Having and using knowledge of systems, situations, procedures, and culture inside the organization to identify potential problems and opportunities; perceiving the impact and the implications of decisions on other components of the organization.

Planning and Organizing Setting priorities and defining actions, time, and resources needed to achieve predefined goals. Strong strategic thinking, communication, and program development abilities; proficient in CRM systems, impact measurement tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Problem Solving Having the ability to identify problems and issues of varying complexities and to find effective solutions with few guidelines.

Oral Communication Shaping and expressing ideas and information in an effective manner.

Persuasiveness Presenting an idea or plan in a way that persuades others to adopt a certain stand.

$83,567 annually
