What you need to be successful

To thrive as a Commercial Electrical Estimator at Garber Electrical Contractors, you'll need a unique blend of skills and experience. First and foremost, excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for collaborating with sales teams, project managers, and clients. Your extensive knowledge of cost principles will allow you to gather relevant information and create precise estimates for both current and proposed projects. Being detail-oriented is vital! You'll monitor and suggest improvements for our estimating operation, utilizing tools like Accubid and Live Count effectively.

Strong organizational skills will help you acquire, sort, and discern bid information, ensuring all project documents are aligned. Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for creating accurate forecasts based on financial data. Proficiency in bidding software, such as Accubid, along with the Microsoft Office Suite, will support your efforts in finalizing proposals and pricing spreadsheets. A minimum of two years of related field experience and a High School Diploma or equivalent will set you on the path to success in this thrilling role!

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• The Construction Estimator will gather relevant information and estimate costs for a current or proposed project.
• Supervisory Responsibilities
• None
• Duties / Responsibilities
• Assist Salesman at pre-bid job site visits
• Assist Salesman in job turnover meetings with Project Manager and / or Foreman
• Monitor and offer suggested improvements of Accubid and overall estimating operation
• Acquire
• sort
• and discern relevant bid information from the provided project documents
• Request answers to your questions from Garber Electric estimators or customer via Salesman
• Inform Salesman of required legal documents required for bids
• Acquire equipment lists from System Designers
• Acquire quotes from vendors
• Provide a written proposal including description
• inclusions
• and exclusions for each project
• Utilize Accubid and / or Live Count to allot material and labor costs to each project
• Prepare pricing spreadsheet for Salesman use
• Finalize pricing and proposal for Salesman distribution
• As goal : Submit proposals to Salesman a half-day prior to due date
• Maintain quote report of your bid projects
• As goal : Maintain a report of bid vs. actual within 5% under / over
• Any other duties that may be assigned
