Job Title : Health Insurance Underwriter

Location : Remote

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM EST (40 hours / week)

Experience Level : Mid-Level (3-5 Years)

Industry : Health Insurance / Medical Claims Analysis

Pay Rate Range : W2 $30-25 / hr

Type : W2 contract, paid hourly. No C2C, 1099, or third-party submissions will be accepted. Only direct W-2 candidates will be considered.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientedHealth Insurance Underwriterto manage a large group book of business. This role is critical in ensuring revenue, margin, and membership goals are met through expert underwriting, risk analysis, and collaboration with Sales.

You'll thrive in a high-volume production environment, using your analytical skills to evaluate claims, determine rates, and support strategic decisions. If you enjoy working independently, prioritizing tasks, and making data-driven decisions, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and rate large group health insurance policies to meet financial and membership targets.
• Analyze underwriting risk and determine premium rates for fully insured groups and funding rates for ASO groups.
• Collaborate closely with Sales to support benefit and funding plan design discussions.
• Provide consultative support to internal and external stakeholders.
• Make decisions within established underwriting guidelines and departmental policies.
• Produce regular and ad hoc reports for Underwriting Management.
• Participate in final rate and benefit discussions with clients.
• Assist in training underwriting and sales staff on rating principles and practices.
• Support process and system improvements related to underwriting.
