Job Summary :

40-hour exempt supervisory position with rotation to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.  Provides clinical care to patients as necessary to meet unit needs.

Reports to the Nurse Manager of the Maternity / Newborn unit.  Works collaboratively with the Managers of North 8 and Labor and Delivery to facilitate a smooth transition of patient care and sharing of resources.

Key Accountabilities :

• Supports the Unit Manager in day to day operations, supervision of staff, and conflict resolution
• Provides expert clinical care
• Role models professionalism, interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork
• Functions in the Resource role, utilizing resources effectively and efficiently
• Facilitates unit “Huddles”
• Coaches and mentors staff
• Performs staff evaluations
• Supports the patient experience through a patient / family centered approach to decision making and practice, regular patient rounding, monthly tracking of patient satisfaction data and identifying opportunities
• Assists Manager in managing change and sustaining initiatives
• Performs audits and monitors documentation and adherence to standards
