Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related field plus seven (7) years of experience in electrical systems studies in the electric utility or industrial power distribution industry.
Will accept a Master’s degree plus six (6) years of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of related experience.
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer licensure.
Preferred Experience / Skills :
Previous experience in development of protective relay settings in Transmission, or Distribution industry.
Prior experience in commonly utilized system modelling software programs (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, etc.).
Knowledge of protection schemes and philosophies commonly applied at Transmission, and Distribution substations.
Developing native relay setting files using SEL’s AcSELerator and GE’s Enervista software programs.
Ability to read and interpret electrical single lines, three lines, schematics, functional diagrams, etc.
Designing calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection and coordination, and relay loadability calculation.
Ability to perform Grounding, Arc Flash, and other Power system studies is a plus.
Providing engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations.
