The Collections Paralegal will support the firm’s attorneys in managing a high- volume portfolio of debt collection and creditor’s rights cases. This role involves preparing and filing pleadings, maintaining case files, corresponding with clients and debtors, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and court rules. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in handling Collection matters in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file collection pleadings, motions, and discovery documents in state and federal courts.
- Assist attorneys in all phases of collection litigation from demand through enforcement.
- Monitor case dockets and deadlines to ensure timely filings and compliance with court procedures.
- Draft and manage demand letters, settlement agreements, and client communications.
- Perform debtor research, including skip tracing and asset searches, to support enforcement actions such as garnishments and liens.
- Maintain detailed case management records in firm databases.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and state debt collection laws.
Qualifications
Experience : Minimum of 2 years in collections, creditor’s rights, and civil litigation in a law firm.Core Competencies :
Strong understanding of litigation and collection procedures.Proficient in legal research and document preparation.Excellent attention to detail and time management.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Company Description
