About the Role

The Field Manager will oversee medium to large projects, providing overall leadership for on-site field administration, supervision, and technical management of all construction operations. This position requires considerable judgment and autonomy in performing job duties, and is expected to function effectively with minimal to moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership : Provide leadership and management of Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Foreman, and Trade Partners to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines of safety and quality, and is completed on time and within budget for a successful project outcome.
  • Mentorship : Communicate Nunn Construction's vision, mission, and values in ways that gain the support of others. Mentor, motivate, and guide others to reach personal, professional, and company-wide goals.
  • Teamwork : Engage with co-workers in a professional and personable manner. Communicate clearly, and mediate conflicts between team members when they arise. Work alongside co-workers to share ideas and knowledge, helping those around you to succeed.
  • Business Development : Develop and maintain strong relationships with Owners, Architects, Trade Partners, and Project Stakeholders through effective and consistent communication and coordination.
  • Safety : Develop, implement, and oversee site-specific safety plans. Stay in compliance with all regulatory agencies, adhere to all record-keeping requirements, and address any safety violations or deficiencies in an appropriate and timely manner, committing to an injury-free work environment. Continually monitor life safety and emergency egress plans during construction to ensure the safety of workers and occupants. Strong knowledge and compliance of OSHA safety regulations to increase safety efforts and reduce injuries and liabilities. Comply with Nunn Construction's Internal Safety Program.
  • Quality Management : Lead the project team in development, review, and implementation of Nunn Construction's Quality Control Program that adheres to the contract documents as well as Owner's expectations. Implement the Quality Control Inspection and Test Plan using Procore's Action Plan Tool, ensuring inspections are being scheduled, conducted, and documented appropriately. Measure and survey to verify dimensions, levels, and alignments throughout the project.
  • Budget Management : Manage self-perform job costs and aid the Project Manager in monthly job cost projections for accurate cost to complete forecasting. Document, track, and report project equipment rental requirements and monthly billings.
  • Schedule Management : Work alongside the Project Manager in the development of the overall construction schedule during preconstruction, actively work to update and manage the schedule throughout construction, focus on improving the schedule by eliminating waste and identifying long lead items, help develop pull plan agendas and lead pull plan meetings with subcontractors and field staff. Proficient in Nunn's Lean Processes. Oversee and ensure Nunn's Last Planner system is effectively implemented on the projects you oversee. Coordinate and manage subcontractor and self-perform manpower performance and projections as well as material requirements to keep the project on schedule and to the highest quality.
  • Site Logistics : Responsible for site logistics and project set up including mobilization, site utilization, work flow, and organization maximizing efficiency while focusing on safety and quality. Responsible for the adherence to the Storm Water Management Plan and implementation of Best Management Practices (BMP).
  • Communication and Coordination : Communicate directly with Senior Superintendents, President, Operations Manager, and Safety Manager on project progress, details, and any issues that may arise. Schedule and lead weekly foreman meetings, keeping the field team on schedule with open communication lines. Monitor and communicate project issues and risks that may arise during construction to the Owner, Architect, and Key Stakeholders. Participate and assist with project close-out including punch list items, systems start-ups, and scheduling training walk-throughs.
  • Presentation Skills : Participate in project interviews, representing Nunn in a professional manner, to win negotiated work. Occasionally prepare and lead presentations and construction tours to the general public, boards, and outside agencies and organizations - representing Nunn Construction in a professional manner.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • No more than 2 employers in 5 years and no more the 3 employers in 10 years.
  • Four year construction related degree preferred and minimum of 7-15 years' experience as a Superintendent on K-12 Schools, higher-ed, healthcare, municipal, advanced manufacturing / technology projects.
  • Complete understanding of plans and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades and supervise a large group of people
  • Extensive construction scheduling experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is a must.
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude with a high level of personal pride and professionalism.
