Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position in Michigan requiring an active MI license and trauma experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency DepartmentPatient population includes adults and pediatrics, with high-volume and high-acuity casesTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6, but can be as high as 1 : 8 during surge periods or holidaysNight shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30Weekend requirement includes three weekends (Friday-Sunday) per four-week scheduleFloating may occur to Pediatric Emergency DepartmentNo on-call responsibilitiesUtilizes Epic EMR; Epic experience is preferred, with orientation training providedLocals are accepted at the same pay rate as travelersPrimary responsibilities include rapid triage, continuous IV and procedural sedation, and management of emergent trauma casesMust be willing to work two out of three major holidays, with the ability to request one holiday off (restrictions apply)Blocked time off from 11 / 28-11 / 30, 12 / 19-12 / 21, and 12 / 26-12 / 28; a five-day maximum for requested time off applies and must be submitted at the time of applicationFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyReturning core staff must have a 12-month gap before returning as travelers and need HR verificationModules are completed pre-start and may require up to five hours outside regular work hoursRequirements
Active MI RN license required by start date; compact licenses are not acceptedCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association requiredCurrent PALS, TNCC, and NIH certifications required; ENPC is preferredMinimum of 2 years recent experience in Level I trauma emergency nursing is requiredDemonstrated competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmiasEpic charting experience is preferredProof of high school education is required regardless of other educationCertifications must be valid through the contract start; pending certifications are not acceptedBenefits
