Position Description
DEFINITION
To perform routine building cleaning tasks; related work as required.
This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and maintenance duties. An employee in this class works under general supervision on routine recurring assignments, receiving specific instructions on each new or unusual assignment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
- Receives general supervision from the Supervisor and / or Custodian Supervisor
- Exercises no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Essential Functions :
Sweep, mop, wax and buff floors, halls and stairways.Wash windows, doors and mirrors and polish furniture.Dust woodwork, furniture, venetian blinds, blackboards and other articles.Collect paper and rubbish.Keep lounge clean.Clean and supply restrooms.Observe and report hazardous conditions.Operate cleaning equipment as required.Clean overhead vents and air filters.Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, supervisors, staff, co-workers, and students.Other Important Functions :
May shovel snowMay deliver packages and messages.May assist in training new custodial personnelPerform other related duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications
QUALIFICATIONS : Knowledge of :
Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.Ability To :
