2026 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light's internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

• Internships are full-time (40 hours / week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
• Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH's Hybrid Work Model (described below).
• Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
• Candidates must have at least one semester remaining after completion of the internship / must not have graduated prior to the internship starting.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricularactivities.
• Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

The Innovation, New Products & Services Intern will learn and help the team identify and prioritize the appropriate products and services to bring to market; support the development of an innovation pipeline for internal customers, support go-to-market strategy for external products, and ultimately learn / partner with Innovation, New Products & Services team to ensure that the company is serving the needs of our external and internal customers through the products and services provided.

Education / Experience :

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master's program with a major of Design / UX, Digital Marketing, Data Science, Behavioral Science, Engineering, Public Policy, or Digital Business and Informational Design.

Skills / Abilities :

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work :

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Other :

Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.
