Job descriptionSubstations Overhead Transmission Lines Underground Transmission Lines Renewables Integration HVDC / FACTs Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited program Minimum of 8 years related work experience Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) as applicable by law Power / Power Systems experience preferred Quality Assurance / Quality Control of EHV substation design projects EHV Substation design experience (physical & P&C) Technical experience across multiple areas Performs complex research and recommends equipment / materials selection Prepare one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations and protection & control schematics Prepare auxiliary power equipment sizing calculations and wiring diagrams for protective relaying panels Engineering calculations for substation projects (lightning protection, conduit fill, station service loading, surge arrester sizing, voltage drop) RTU control, status and analog point lists, raceway / cable schedules, signage and nameplates Equipment arrangement, grounding, foundation, and conduit plans for HV substations Review shop drawings, vendor quotes, bid evaluations Develop construction release documents Experience with 500 kV – 13.8 kV substations; open air and GIS Experience with bus configurations, raceway drawings, grounding drawings, plan and section drawings Manage budgets, schedules, and quality; delegate and supervise work; communicate status to management Written communications; drive for results; priority setting; planning; delegation Directing others; conflict management; informing; listening; building effective teams Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable standards Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for multiple substation design projects Perform EHV substation design (physical design, protective relaying / control) with focus on continuous improvement Develop scoping documents for EHV substation projects Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, codes, and BV policies Assist in developing and updating engineering standards Provide technical guidance to others across projects and disciplines Apply knowledge and comply with BV quality program for assigned tasks Ensure compliance with quality program during internal QA reviews Provide guidance to others and support continuous improvement Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large projects Lead data collection, analysis, and management for engineering work Prepare complex engineering calculations and manage budgets / schedules / quality Review lower-level engineering work; may supervise larger production teams Coordinate with internal / external team members on moderately complex projects Manage work assignments and ensure quality from team members Participate in planning meetings Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors Communicate client interests to project teams and help address concerns Support business development or pursuit activities Serve as a technical specialist and provide guidance to project teams Support multiple projects on complex technical challenges Assist with performance management, mentoring, and development Mentor less experienced engineers; may supervise engineers and technicians Provide constructive feedback on performance Participate in career planning and learning Implement resource management strategies Manage engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline

Responsibilities and Opportunities
In this role, you will.
- Function as a technical specialist or in a lead substation design role encompassing EHV transmission level voltage class.
- Under general direction, develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems.
- Provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on substation design projects.
- Develop, validate, and present specialist / technical output as required.
- Lead other engineers and interface directly with clients.
- Be responsible for the overall execution and quality of substation projects as a leader within a team environment.
