The Controller oversees all accounting operations for AIMS Companies, a multi-state provider of industrial and municipal inspection, cleaning, and maintenance services. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective leadership of the accounting team. The Controller works closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making, optimize financial performance, and uphold high standards of operational integrity across all business units.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Manage multi-entity consolidations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations across multiple states.
Ensure accurate job costing, revenue recognition, and performance tracking for field operations.
Maintain a comprehensive and timely month-end and year-end close process.
Accounting Operations
Lead accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger functions.
Maintain and enhance the chart of accounts as the company grows or adds new business lines.
Ensure compliance with sales / use tax, property tax, and other multi-state regulatory requirements.
Oversee fixed asset management, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure accounting.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Develop and maintain internal control frameworks across decentralized field locations.
Ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP, and relevant accounting standards.
Coordinate annual external audits and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, and tax partners.
Strategic Finance & Leadership
Partner with leadership to analyze financial performance, cost drivers, project margins, and cash flow forecasts.
Provide recommendations for process improvements, technology upgrades, and financial system enhancements.
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
7 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Experience in construction, industrial services, field services, or other job-costed industries strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, multi-state compliance, and financial statement preparation.
Proficiency with ERP / accounting systems.
