Storeroom Clerk I

The General Services Unit of the Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking a diverse pool of qualified applicants for the position of Storeroom Clerk I within the Administrative Division. The LCB is a nonpartisan, legislative service agency that provides professional, technical and administrative support to the Nevada Legislature, which convenes biennially in odd-numbered years for 120-day sessions and for rare special sessions during the interim periods. The General Services Unit provides essential logistical support to the legislators, legislative staff and LCB staff. Two full-time positions are available, one in Carson City and one in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Under the supervision of the General Services Supervisor and Manager, the Storeroom Clerk I will provide logistical services to legislators and legislative staff, including purchasing, shipping and receiving, mail processing, storage and delivery, recordkeeping, office and furniture moves, office supply procurement and inventory management. Responsibilities of the Storeroom Clerk I may include, without limitation :

Maintaining and monitoring a digital recordkeeping system related to inventory purchases in accordance with purchasing statutes, regulations and LCB policies and procedures;

Identifying order discrepancies, coordinating vendors to resolve issues and arranging for delivery or return of items;

Operating postage meters and mail equipment to ensure accurate postage, proper shipping modalities and accurate labeling of all outgoing correspondence and packages;

Coordinating and assisting with office and furniture moves, including disassembly, transport, reassembly, and setup of equipment and furnishings;

Safely operating equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies in a safe manner to receive, move, store and distribute materials and supplies;

Assisting with the planning and execution of projects requiring logistical or storeroom support;

Completing required training and obtaining necessary certifications to ensure compliance with safety rules, regulations and protocols;

Effectively communicating and collaborating with personnel from other state agencies and the public; and

Performing other duties as assigned.

The Storeroom Clerk I will be selected with special preference given to the candidate's training, experience and aptitude in warehouse operations and / or mail and shipping services. A qualified candidate must have : (1) a high school diploma / GED; (2) a valid driver's license; and (3) at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Previous experience in a warehouse or mail processing environment is preferred.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate :

Proficiency in prioritizing tasks, including the ability to track and organize records using computer databases and spreadsheets;

A strong capacity to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team setting;

Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally;

Physical readiness to perform manual tasks including, without limitation, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, operating power and hand tools and using computers and various office equipment; and

Skill in building and maintaining productive working relationships, solving problems efficiently and performing effectively under tight deadlines and on high-pressure projects.

The annual salary for this position is based on a Grade 32, which has a salary range of $56,689 to $83,666 under the employee / employer-paid retirement option. An employer-paid contribution plan is also available with a reduced salary in lieu of an employee contribution. Actual starting salary will be based on experience.

The work is performed in an indoor warehouse environment and may involve exposure to dirt, pollen, insects, inclement weather, moving equipment, equipment noise and temperature extremes. Overtime is required during legislative sessions and certain other periods as necessary to meet the demands of the Legislature. When overtime is worked, the Storeroom Clerk I may earn compensatory time that may be taken at a later date or be paid for overtime, consistent with the LCB Rules and Policies and subject to budgetary limits.
