Under general supervision, performs computed tomography angiography (CTA) and positron emission tomography (PET) examinations appropriate to the patient’s age-specific needs following established policies and protocols for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES) :
- Performs full range of positron emission tomography (PET) exams on patients of all ages. Is proficient with performing all scans (including Cardiac PET testing).
- Positions patients appropriately for test being performed following established protocols; adjusts equipment to produce high-quality images.
- Explains procedures and positioning to patients.
- Monitors and maintains essential patient care and safety during procedures; applies safety principles as identified by established policy.
- Selects and operates all PET equipment
- Provides protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.
- Provides test results to patient’s physician and other appropriate healthcare providers.
- Performs daily quality control of equipment and other quality assurance / quality control activities as required.
- Maintains inventory of necessary supplies.
- Prepares rooms for PET.
- Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies / practices.
- Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.
- Collect, interpret, and / or analyze physician orders and diagnostic data.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCIES :
Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.One to two years CT experience or equivalent.CT cardiac experience, including CT Coronary Angiogram preferred.Venipuncture experience required.Cameras : Siemens Biograph 64 Truepoint PET / CT Scanner.PET experience preferred but not required.Computer knowledge required, electronic medical records (EMR) highly preferred.Must have excellent customer service skills.Must be able to travel within main locations at SLHV.Must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Must be self-motived individual.Strong inter-personal skills.Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.Multilingual and American Sign Language (ASL) plus.CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES :
Certified Radiologic Technologist.Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT and / or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)- PET credentialsCurrent CPR Certification.Venipuncture certification preferred.
