Works under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician. Assists staff, providers, residents, and medical students with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks using a team-based approach in providing patient care. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g., surgery, cardiology, neurology) to help with patient care related to that specialty or may be expected to cross-cover multiple specialties. Works closely with supervisor to assure responsibilities defined below are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse Training Program
- State Licensure as an LPN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / Automated External Debribrillator (AED)
- 6 months experience in a clinical role in a healthcare facility
- Demonstrated competency ins BLS & AED within first 90 days - Preferred
Key Accountabilities
Assess physical condition (vital signs / measurements) & nursing needs, prepare patient and assist provider in developing a plan of care to allow for an efficient and complete patient visitPerform patient care activities (ie. phlebotomy functions, EKGs) according to the clinical scope of practice for LPNs to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomesEnsure exam room / work area is clean & safe, equipment is maintained, & exam rooms are stocked for the next patientPerform pre-visit and post-visit documentation to provide adequate care and complete recordsComplete inventory management of supplies to ensure exam areas are fully stocked and functionalParticipates in care team huddles to collaborative care is given to each patient on every visitMaintains overall patient experience and safety, following all emergency clinical policies and protocols, to allow for optimal experience of care
