Job description

Federal Government Relations Representative

Futures start here. Where first steps, new friendships, and confident learners are born. At KinderCare Learning Companies, we offer a variety of early education and child care options for families. Whether it's KinderCare Learning Centers, Champions, or Crme de la Crme, we build confidence for kids, families, and the future we share. And we want you to join us in shaping itin neighborhoods, at work, and in schools nationwide.

At KinderCare Learning Companies, you'll use your skills and expertise to support the work (and fun) that happens in our sites and centers every day. From marketers and strategists to financial analysts and data engineers, and so much more, we're all passionate about crafting a world where children, families, and organizations can thrive.

As Federal Government Relations Representative, you will support the KinderCare Learning Company's engagement with Congress, federal agencies, and other policymakers. You'll supervise and report on legislative and regulatory developments, help develop and implement the company's policy and advocacy strategies, and represent the organization's priorities to federal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of federal policymaking processes, and the ability to build and manage relationships with government officials, trade associations, and coalition partners.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on federal legislation, regulations, and policy trends relevant to the company.
  • Assist in the development and execution of federal advocacy strategies to advance company priorities.
  • Draft briefing materials, position papers, comment letters, and testimony for internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate meetings with congressional staff, agency officials, and key stakeholders; prepare leadership and executives for external engagements.
  • Represent the organization in coalitions, industry associations, and professional networks.
  • Support the organization's political engagement efforts, including tracking hearings, markups, and votes.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with policymakers, legislative and agency staff, and relevant committees on Capitol Hill.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to internal leadership on federal issues affecting the company.
  • Assist with compliance reporting, including federal lobbying disclosures.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field (Master's degree a plus).
  • 35 years of experience in federal government relations, Capitol Hill, federal agencies, or trade associations.
  • Proven understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated policy issues into clear, actionable messages.
  • Established proficiency in developing and upholding bipartisan relationships.
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Preferred :

  • Proficiency in federal appropriations, authorizing committees, or key regulatory agencies that are essential to the organization's mission.
  • Existing network of congressional and agency contacts.
  • Our benefits meet you where you are.

  • Know your whole family is supported with discounted child care benefits.
  • Breathe easy with medical, dental, and vision benefits for your family (and pets, too!).
  • Feel supported in your mental health and personal growth with employee assistance programs.
  • Feel great and thrive with access to health and wellness programs, paid time off and discounts for work necessities, such as cell phones.
  • We operate research-backed, accredited, and customizable programs in more than 2,000 sites and centers across 40 states and the District of Columbia. As we expand, we're matching the needs of more and more families, dynamic work environments, and diverse communities from coast to coast. Because we believe every family deserves access to high-quality child care, no matter who they are or where they live. Every day, you'll help bring this mission to life by building community and delivering exceptional experiences. And if you're anything like us, you'll come for the work, and stay for the people.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, military or veteran status, gender identity or expression, or any other basis protected by local, state, or federal law.
