Job description

American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Kingwood, West Virginia.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with at least one year of acute care experience, ACLS and NIHSS certification, and the ability to work night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit
  • Float as needed to other units
  • Patient ratios typically range from 1 : 4 to 1 : 6
  • Night shifts : 3 or 4 shifts per week, 7 : 00pm–7 : 30am, including every other weekend
  • Open to blocked scheduling
  • Patient population includes those requiring critical care interventions and telemetry monitoring
  • Must be able to perform conscious sedation and care for ventilated patients
  • Uses CPSI electronic medical record system
  • Care for a diverse range of medical and surgical patients, including those requiring telemetry and ventilator support
  • Scrub color is wine and / or burgundy, not provided by facility
  • Orientation is held every other Thursday; required online modules must be completed before starting
  • Holiday and weekend coverage will be required per rotation
  • Previous travel experience is not required
  • Candidates with previous probationary license actions will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Current Vandalia Health System employees (including affiliates) are not eligible for this travel contract

    • Requirements

  • Active WV or Compact RN license, pending license acceptable
  • Minimum 1 year of current hospital Med / Surg experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • All certifications must be from the American Heart Association if required by the unit
  • Prior experience with conscious sedation, telemetry, and ventilators required
  • Minimum two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years required for consideration
  • Permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; 75–100 miles considered case-by-case
  • No permanent employment with Vandalia Health System within the past two years
