We looking for an experienced Materials Engineer that understands both Material Characterization and Lifing to help with material selection on the Scattershot program.

Plans for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. Applies knowledge of material science to recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to attain design objectives in the most economical manner possible. Reviews blueprints and specifications to determine the appropriate materials needed to achieve successful completion of initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May report to an executive or a manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Key Responsibilities :

Material Characterization :

  • Perform detailed analysis and characterization of materials including metals, polymers, and composites.
  • Utilize advanced instrumentation and techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR) to evaluate material properties.
  • Interpret and report on microstructural and compositional data related to materials performance.

Lifting Analysis :

  • Evaluate the life expectancy and degradation mechanisms of materials in relation to specific applications.
  • Conduct accelerated life testing and environmental exposure assessments.
  • Develop and validate predictive models for material degradation and lifespan.
  • Reporting and Documentation :

  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure all documentation meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration :

  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and design teams to provide expert advice on material selection and applications.
  • Participate in technical meetings and contribute to project planning sessions.
  • Continuous Improvement :
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in material science and lifing methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in material analysis.
