Maintenance Construction Technician II

This position participates in the general upkeep of grounds, facilities, equipment and assists maintenance staff with the maintenance requirements of North Carolina National Guard facilities. Employee performs grounds maintenance tasks and provides oversight of the ground's maintenance contract. These services also include the mixing and application of herbicide / pesticide chemicals, fertilizing, mulching, weeding, mowing, trimming, pruning, seeding and removal of dead foliage. Must be able to make minor mechanical adjustments to equipment such as tractors, mowers and other powered lawn equipment and ensures all grounds equipment has up to date service records and are cleaned / maintained regularly. This position is responsible for maintenance on all tools, equipment and facilities, as well as assigned administrative responsibilities such as record keeping, recording work hours, and basic operational forms. This position will assist other maintenance staff in preventative maintenance of facilities. This will include, but not be limited to, basic custodial responsibilities, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and electrical equipment maintenance. Maintenance projects are carried out during all seasons and in all types of weather conditions. This position requires physical stamina to carry out a variety of tasks.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Necessary Special Qualifications and Requirements : Per 5 CFR 731, upon appointment, applicant must be able to obtain a favorable suitability and determination from a Tier I background investigation conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F. Failure to obtain a favorable determination may result in termination of employment.
