American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU / Telemetry role in a corrections oncology environment, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and EPIC charting experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a locked PCU / corrections unit providing care to Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections inmatesPatient population includes active oncology, hematology, and various medical-surgical diagnosesNurse to patient ratio is 1 : 3 for PCU and 1 : 4-5 for medical-surgical shiftsWill float between Oncology Medical-Surgical and PCU units as neededDay and night 12-hour rotating shifts available, with scheduling reviewed every 4 weeksWeekend shifts required as determined by unit needsUses Pyxis medication system and EPIC for documentationResponsibilities include medication administration, management of central and peripheral lines, blood product administration, and interpretation of ABGsCare for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, IV insulin protocols, renal failure management, respiratory interventions (including CPAP / BIPAP, HFNC, and trach management), and post-surgical careWork in a secure environment with a high focus on staff safetySupport available from pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory, and social servicesRecent oncology experience is preferred but not requiredMust adhere to department procedures for rapid response and emergency careLocals are accepted at the same rate as travelersRTO (time off) must be built into the contract at the time of considerationCurrent employees are not eligible to work as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location\n \n Requirements\n
Active Ohio or compact RN license required at time of considerationBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredGraduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program requiredEPIC charting experience requiredMedical-Surgical / Telemetry skills requiredAbility to interpret and manage dysrhythmiasWillingness to float to various units, including oncology and correctionsMust provide two professional references, with at least one from a formal leadership roleCandidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after contract signingFormer employees must have a break of six months before consideration\n Benefits\n
