- 7 years of SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments
- MUST have previous experience migrating from SQL Server 2016 to SQL Server 2022 in a HA clustered always up environment.
- Expertise in clustering high availability and DR strategies using VMs
- Strong understanding of Hyper-V or VMware environments
Job Description
We are looking for a SQL Database Administrator to support a critical upgrade project from SQL Server 2017 to 2022. This position will be full-time and hybrid in Boise ID.
What Youll Do :
Lead the upgrade of SQL Server 2017 to 2022 in a complex on-prem VM-based environmentMaintain and troubleshoot Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC)Collaborate with infrastructure teams to manage VM configurations storage and networkingSupport both production and disaster recovery (DR) environmentsPerform performance tuning capacity planning and backup / restore operationsCreate and maintain detailed documentation and proceduresProvide on-call support as neededProvide direction as needed for other DBA contractors on work required to be performedProvide knowledge transfer to internal teamsWhat Youll Need Required :
7 years of SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environmentsMUST have previous experience migrating from SQL Server 2016 to SQL Server 2022 in a HA clustered always up environmentExpertise in clustering high availability and DR strategies using VMsStrong understanding of Hyper-V or VMware environmentsProficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scriptingExperience managing SQL Server on Windows Server in an on-premises data centerExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsExperience with SQL Server components such as SSRS SSIS and Analysis ServicesPreferred :
Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalentFamiliarity with VM backup and snapshot strategiesExperience with monitoring tools like Redgate SolarWinds or Sentry OneKnowledge of hybrid DR strategies involving off-site or co-located data centersKnowledge of current Microsoft SQL Server licensingExperience in using and configuring 3rd party tools such as Redgate monitoring toolsUnderstanding of Active Directory configuration requirements including :Cluster Name Object (CNO) requirements for pre staged SQL Computer ObjectsDelegation of rights to service accounts for dynamic object creation within specific OUsUnderstanding of DNS configuration requirements to support dynamic updates for SQL Server listeners and CNOs in high availability scenariosNote : While the contractor will not directly manage AD or DNS they will work closely with the Server Support team to facilitate necessary changes and ensure proper configuration.Physical Demands :
