  • Define and maintain product-level specifications for battery performance, reliability, and lifetime.
  • Work hands-on with prototypes and production samples to validate and optimize battery integration.

Testing, Validation & Failure Analysis :

  • Develop and execute rigorous test and qualification protocols across environmental, mechanical, and usage scenarios.
  • Partner with reliability engineering to establish lifecycle and safety test standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis of battery-related failures and drive corrective actions through vendors and internal teams.
  • Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to qualify and manage battery cell and pack vendors, with a focus on Asia-based suppliers.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
  • Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on best practices for battery handling, testing, and integration.
  • Technology Roadmap & Strategy :

  • Stay ahead of emerging battery technologies and assess their applicability to Oura’s products.
  • Influence long-term product architecture by aligning battery capabilities with product and design requirements.
  • Act as Oura’s internal subject matter expert on battery chemistry, safety, and packaging trends.
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in battery design and integration for consumer electronics or similarly high-volume, compact devices.
  • Deep expertise in battery technologies, including chemistry, construction, safety, and packaging, with experience in Li-ion and emerging chemistries.
  • Hands-on experience collaborating directly with battery cell and pack vendors, particularly in Asia.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), protection circuits, and system-level integration.
  • Demonstrated success defining and meeting battery-level and product-level reliability, safety, and lifetime goals.
  • Proven ability to lead failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
  • Benefits :

  • Competitive salary and equity packages
  • Health, dental, vision insurance, and mental health resources
  • An Oura Ring of your own plus employee discounts for friends & family
