Overview
Independence Community College is seeking applications for the position of Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology . Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serves approximately 1500 full- and part-time students each year.
The Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology is a 9-month full-time position reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Salary Range is $45,000 - $75,000 with final salary commensurate with experience and credentials based on the Faculty Negotiated Agreement.
The Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology is responsible for providing quality and industry-standard instruction in industrial systems topics through seated, online, and lab courses. This position will provide innovative and engaging instruction while ensuring that course topics and examples evolve with advancements in the field and will network with the regional industry to collaborate on a variety of projects through the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Technology Program Chair. The role will assist the division in collaborating across curriculum and continuing education divisions to deliver courses that meet the needs of local industry partners and students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Instruct and facilitate Industrial Maintenance Technology courses.
- Deliver instructional programs efficiently to provide access to quality learning experiences.
- Provide input into the college’s shared governance and supportive activities.
- Work with instructors and college personnel to promote the college.
- Maintain regular shop and office hours.
- Plan, budget and oversee the departmental budget with fiscal responsibility.
General Responsibilities
Complete reports and communications in a timely manner for internal and external agencies.Ensure the security of all ICC property under the supervision of this role.Demonstrate clarity of thought and expression in oral and written communications.Communicate effectively with sensitivity to student learning styles and developmental needs.Collaborate with others to support development of new programming (including fund development and recruitment).Maintain safety, procedures, and ethical job standards.Present expertise in content area and stay current with advancements.Qualifications
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution with demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline; OR at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.Experience in fundamentals of industrial controls, machining, electricity, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.Ability to read industrial schematics.Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment typical to an industrial production environment.Previous teaching experience at a community college or university, experience using instructional technologies, and teaching online courses are preferred.Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
