Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Onsite Safety Manager to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enforce workplace safety compliance with OSHA and California rules and regulations, ensuring all employees are working in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and initiatives to mitigate risks and prevent workplace accidents or injuries.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and ensure proper onboarding of new hires with a focus on health and safety principles.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to facilitate hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching of employees.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on all EHS-related issues, conducting regular site assessments, audits, and inspections.
  • Document and report on safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among employees and subcontractors on-site.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, policies, and procedures regularly to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with both English- and Spanish-speaking employees to ensure safety practices are understood and followed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) , preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and California compliance laws relevant to workplace safety.
  • Experience with HR-related functions, including safety training, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing coaching.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required to communicate with a diverse workforce effectively.
  • Highly desired : A degree in Safety or Environmental Health or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to foster a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Certifications such as OSHA-30, CSP, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
  • Familiarity with accident investigation procedures and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong leadership abilities and confidence in addressing safety concerns directly with employees and contractors.
  • Stay updated on evolving laws and regulations impacting HR and safety practices.
  • Experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

    Construction Industry experience

    Knowledge of OSHA & California compliance, rules, and regulations

    Experience with HR functions : Safety Training, hiring, onboarding, coaching

    Bilingual in Spanish

    Degree in Safety or Environmental Health highly desired.
