Public Policy Manager
We are looking for a Public Policy Manager to join our growing team at Persona. In this role, you'll shape our approach to evolving identity verification regulations and privacy laws across different jurisdictions, while ensuring our products and practices comply with relevant requirements. You'll serve as a critical bridge between our product teams, legal department, and external regulatory bodies.
The Public Policy Manager will play a pivotal role in navigating the complex regulatory landscape surrounding online safety, data privacy, and digital identity. This position uniquely combines policy research, advocacy, and internal consultation to help Persona anticipate and adapt to changing regulatory requirements.
This role involves addressing unique challenges like determining appropriate policy positions globally in jurisdictions with conflicting or ambiguous regulatory frameworks, and translating complex compliance requirements into practical product guidelines that maintain our commitment to user privacy and security.
What You'll Do At Persona
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on existing and emerging regulations related to identity verification, data privacy, KYC / AML requirements, and digital identity across global markets
Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and policy stakeholders to represent Persona's interests
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to identify potential impacts on Persona's products and operations
Develop and publish policy positions, white papers, and educational materials that articulate Persona's stance on key regulatory issues
Work cross-functionally with legal, product, and engineering teams to implement policy decisions and regulatory requirements
Represent Persona at industry events, regulatory hearings, and policy forums to advocate for balanced approaches to identity verification regulation
What You'll Bring To Persona
Master's, PhD, or 3+ years of work experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs, preferably in technology, financial services, or privacy-focused industries
Strong understanding of global regulations related to identity verification, KYC / AML requirements, and data privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA / CPRA)
Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory information into actionable insights
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling policy positions and present to diverse audiences
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make recommendations in areas where regulations may be unclear or still developing
Strong commitment to privacy, security, and ethical use of identity verification technology
Nice To Haves (Optional)
Law degree or advanced degree in public policy, international relations, or related field
Previous experience at a regulatory agency, policy think tank, or technology company facing complex regulatory challenges
Knowledge of identity verification technologies and their technical implementations
Experience with international regulatory frameworks and multi-jurisdictional compliance
Background in coalition-building and industry association work
Salary Range
$100,000 - $150,000 USD annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Base salaries are just one component of the total compensation package and are determined by a number of factors such as years of experience, expertise, qualifications and more.
