Purpose : To develop, implement, and oversee district-wide culinary and wellness initiatives that support student health, nutrition, and well-being. This position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, promotes healthy eating habits, and collaborates with schools, staff, and community partners to foster a culture of wellness throughout the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation :
- Assist Director of Menu Productions in development of innovative program changes and expansions.
- Manages recipe development and recipes testing with staff and students.
- Provides input with ingredients to purchase.
- Documents HACCP steps in recipe development.
- Evaluates menu taste, texture, and appearance.
- Ensures nutritionally balanced meals and follows USDA meal pattern.
- Manages all aspects of culinary trainings.
- Manages all special diet request for APS schools, charters and sponsored NSLP & CACFP sites.
- Acts as a liaison to parent / guardians, school health offices, school cafeteria staff and school site administrators to ensure special diet requirements are properly executed to ensure the students safety and protection from contact with allergen or item that may cause harm.
- Works with APS Wellness policy and ensures formation of Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC)
- Attends and / or participates on committees within area of specific responsibility.
- Performs any other duties as assigned

Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Experience.
A minimum of one year experience working in a school meal service setting or child nutrition program in the area of operationsGraduation from an accredited collage / university with a degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
