Description
The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia invites applications for an academically oriented clinical chemist to serve as Associate Medical Director of the Section of Clinical Chemistry. This an open rank position; the successful candidate will qualify for an appointment at least at the rank of an Assistant Professor of Pathology. Responsibilities include the oversight of laboratory testing and quality, assay development and validation. The Section consists of automated chemistry, special chemistry and immunology laboratories.

Qualifiations
Interested candidates must have a PhD, MD, or MD / PhD degree, and be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or the American Board of Pathology, as applicable. Responsibilities will include clinical service (oversight over one or more of the clinical chemistry laboratories), teaching (primarily pathology residents and clinical chemistry fellows), and collaborative and / or independent research activities. Fellowship training in clinical chemistry is highly desirable. Experience and knowledge in development and oversight of automated clinical chemistry tests and immunology testing are highly desirable.
