Assistant Administrator
Under general direction, performs major daily and project / program based administrative duties. Recommends and administers divisional / departmental policies and procedures. Prepares regular and special reports related to divisional / departmental operations. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Business / Public Relations or closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university required. Two years of full-time paid experience in government or private industry office administration required. (Substitution : Two years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Must be able to operate a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suites.
Assisting taxpayers in-person, via e-mail, and over the phone; reviewing and processing returns / forms and payments; reviewing weekly and / or month-end reports; and completing other related tasks. May participate in the process of conducting and monitoring various compliance and delinquency projects across the Division. May also perform supervisory duties based on the qualifications of the candidate.
Previous experience in the preparation and / or auditing of income taxes and, more specifically, municipal income taxes; previous experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and / or aspects of these fields; previous experience in municipal accounting, auditing, finance, and / or aspects of these fields; previous educational experience in accounting, auditing, taxes, and / or finance; ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive taxpayer information; ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously; ability to effectively communicate across and with multiple layers of the Division, City, and / or external parties; ability to manage several staff members across multiple functions within the Division; strong interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to, active listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, flexibility, and motivation.
