Position Title : Sr. Okta Engineer
Location : Washington, D.C. (Hybrid - On-site several times per month near NoMa Metro)
Position Status : Contract to Hire (3-month temp-to-perm)
Clearance Requirements : Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust ; candidates with an active Public Trust or Suitability are strongly preferred.
Pay Rate : $65 - $75 / hr.
Position Description : We are seeking a Senior Okta Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Okta-based Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions for a large U.S. federal agency. This role will play a key part in modernizing identity security and implementing federated authentication across a complex, multi-tenant environment.
As part of a collaborative cybersecurity consulting team, you'll work with federal clients to implement secure, scalable solutions that align with NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA standards. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Okta integration, SSO, MFA, and automation , with strong technical depth and a consultative mindset.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect, deploy, and manage Okta solutions for authentication, federation, and lifecycle management across diverse domains and agencies.
- Design and enforce SSO, MFA, and adaptive access policies in compliance with federal security standards.
- Integrate Okta with on-premises and cloud applications , leveraging APIs, SCIM, SAML, OIDC, and OAuth2 protocols.
- Automate user provisioning and deprovisioning workflows using scripting and Okta APIs (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Monitor and optimize Okta performance, reliability, and security posture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-cybersecurity, infrastructure, and development-to ensure seamless identity experiences.
- Provide technical leadership and documentation for IAM best practices and compliance alignment.
Required Skills & Education :
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field .5+ years of professional experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) , including 3+ years focused on Okta .Proven expertise in Okta architecture, configuration, and integration within complex, federated environments.Strong understanding of SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, SCIM , and other modern identity protocols.Hands-on experience implementing MFA , including Okta Verify, FIDO, OTP, and RSA tokens.Proficiency with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Okta APIs).Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP .Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.Okta Certified Professional credential (required).U.S. Citizenship required.Preferred Qualifications :
Active Public Trust or higher security clearance.Two or more current Okta certifications (Administrator, Consultant, Developer, or Architect).Experience supporting federal IAM modernization projects .Additional cybersecurity certifications : CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or CISM .Why Join Seneca Resources?
