Job description

Akkodis is seeking a maintenance generalist for a direct hire position with a client located in Waterloo, IA. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician with a minimum of 6 months’ experience and / or training in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or related troubleshooting fields. This role involves the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and assets within our pork processing facility, supporting efficient operations while maintaining a safe work environment.

Pay / Salary Range : 50k to 52k

Maintenance generalist job responsibilities include :

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and systems, including :
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical and electronic controls (PLC troubleshooting and navigation, AC / DC control wiring, 3-phase wiring, and motor control)
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Conveyor systems and plumbing
  • Welding and fabrication tasks
  • Set up, adjust, and disassemble production machinery as needed.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to company protocols.
  • Review and interpret equipment manuals and technical instructions.
  • Complete daily reports and required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work in wet and humid environments with temperatures ranging from 35°F to 90°F+.
  • Engage in physically demanding tasks, such as climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting items up to 60 lbs.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience or training in at least one of the following areas :
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting
  • Electrical / Electronic Troubleshooting
  • Hydraulic Troubleshooting
  • PLC Troubleshooting and Navigation
  • Welding / Fabrication
  • AC / DC Control Wiring, Motor Control, 3-Phase Wiring
  • Plumbing
  • Conveyor Maintenance
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, industrial environment.
  • Willingness to work all scheduled shifts, including Sundays and overtime as required.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Wet and humid conditions.
  • Temperatures vary between 35°F and 90°F+.
  • Physical requirements include climbing, standing, walking on hard surfaces, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
