Job Summary :
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Survey Crew Chief to join our growing surveying team. This individual should be eager to gain experience across a wide range of projects and looking to build a long-term career. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and capable of transitioning smoothly between projects. In this role, the Survey Crew Chief will collaborate with our survey, engineering, and operations teams to perform field surveying tasks for projects in the private, commercial, and public markets. Responsibilities include conducting boundary, topographic, and ALTA / NSPS surveys, elevation certificates, and recorded document research. Experience in topographic data collection, property boundary surveys, construction staking, and related calculations is essential.
Essential Job Functions (
- =Non-essential tasks) :
- Performs field collection of boundary survey data under the supervision of a Professional Surveyor
- Performs field collection of topographic survey data
- Performs construction staking and calculations (layout of private, commercial and governmental projects)
- Uses AutoCAD software and Trimble Business Center
- Collects and downloads data
- Works with project superintendents and foremen to identify and resolve problems or discrepancies with drawings, sites, staking, etc.
- Maintains a valid driver's license and operates a company vehicle to travel to job sites
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of surveying technology and practices
- Uses appropriate discretion regarding project confidentiality

Associate's or Technical degree in Surveying, CAD, Construction, Engineering or related degree preferred3+ years' experience in the construction industry with some Heavy Highway knowledge is preferredSurvey Technician Certification or willingness to quickly acquire certificationProfessional Surveyor licensure (or eligibility) is a plusMust have knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookPhysical Requirements

Individual will be working in a field and office environment (85 / 15), with a primary emphasis on survey related field work.Ability to work in adverse conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat or cold, water, mud, dust, etc.Works long hours and potentially 6 days a week, with the understanding nights could be neededTravels up to 90-mile radius from the main officeInteraction with internal departments (e.g., Safety, Accounting, Field Operations) and external partners (e.g., clients, municipalities, subcontractors)Must be comfortable working in high-pressure, deadline-driven settingsSupervisory Responsibilities :
