Medical Assistant Extern
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Assistant Extern to join our team for a short-term placement of 4 to 10 weeks. As a Medical Assistant Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting, assisting healthcare professionals and contributing to the overall patient care process. This externship offers valuable learning opportunities to enhance your medical knowledge and practical skills while working under the guidance of experienced medical staff.
North Clinic Location: 1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78752
Schedule: Monday Friday, approximately 15 to 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined based on clinic needs and extern's availability.
Compensation: Unpaid Internship/University or Program Credit
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Medical Assistant Supervisor, when rotating through each area, this individual's primary responsibilities include:
- Observe and assist the Medical Assistant in performing clinical duties, such as taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for exams.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by following infection control procedures and regulations.
- Observe and assist the Medical Assistant in performing administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintaining patient records.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations.
- Learn and follow clinic policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Assist with patient education by providing information on medications, procedures, and post-care instructions.
- Participate in relevant training and educational sessions offered during the externship period.
- Take initiative to learn from medical professionals and actively seek opportunities for skill development.
- Attend and participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in one of our affiliated Medical Assistant School Programs and in the section of the course that requires completion of 80 180 hours of clinical experience.
