The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is looking for a Lead Medical Technologist in the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory (Full Time / Evening Shift) to support the multi-organ (kidney, pancreas, heart, lung, VCA) and stem cell transplant programs at Penn Medicine.
Summary of Accountabilities :
Oversee daily technical operation
Responsible for scheduling and prioritizing daily work assignments to meet workload demands
Ensure all reagent quality control procedures are performed to comply with regulatory standards
Review and sign off on quality control testing and patient results
Responsible for writing / updating Standard Operating procedures
Serves as a technical resource for the HLA staff and other medical professionals
Work with the Director and management team to accomplish laboratory objectives
Coordinates activities related to new programs / increased workloads : cost analysis, test codes, workflow analysis and reporting of results Implements change effectively
Evaluates the effectiveness of quality improvement endeavors and corrective action plans
Participates in Entity and Department wide initiatives for patient / employee safety
Orients and trains new hires. Provides ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance effectiveness of the technical staff
Applies knowledge and technical skills to perform laboratory assay and produces accurate and complete results.
Minimum Certifications, Registry and / or Licensure :
Minimum Degree Requirements and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in a biological science, chemistry science or medical technology (Required)
Minimum of 3 years experience related to Histocompatibility testing (Required)
