Materials Specialist (South)
We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Materials Specialist (South) in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by Local 2150.
Job Summary
Conduct all supply activities related to the procurement, handling, coordination, and disbursing of materials, equipment, and services requested by internal and external customers at various locations and job sites. Activities include (but not limited to) quality inspection of received materials, pre-assembly, kitting, records management, dispatching WE vehicles, and return goods for shipment.
Job Responsibilities
- Package material for point-of-use delivery
- Assemble material into units for point-of-use delivery
- Pick, stage, prepare materials, tools, equipment for delivery
- Help customers identify materials, tools, job numbers, reservation numbers for planning / disbursement
- Complete transactions associated with reservations, direct order entry, disbursements of material
- Deliver material / equipment to job sites, including substations, using forklifts, cranes, etc., requiring the reading of prints, drawings, maps to determine precise drop-off point
- Disburses / maintains tools used by personnel
- Process, sort, receive, enter property / serial numbers to computer system, stage, store electric meters
- Provide storeroom support for special electric meter shop material
- Conduct QA inspections
- Handle and resolve rejections / discrepancies with supplier; process corresponding paperwork, computer system transactions
- Reconcile individual / ghost account Procard statements
- Select and prepare samples for inspection / testing; prepare paperwork / computer system transactions
- Deliver materials, tools, equipment to crews
- Identify chemical deliveries, direct to proper location, notify appropriate plant personnel
- Arrange for, coordinate, receive services provided by outside contractors such as : automatic fire equipment, sand, gravel, etc
- Evaluate, prepare, account for returned materials
- Identify / reclaim materials fit to be returned to stock and those to be scrapped
- Process paperwork to disperse used materials to customers; ensure customer is informed of hazards
- Investigate and determine account / work order to credit returned scrap / non-scrap items
- Identify and determine repairable items, repair, disassemble, perform necessary transactions to return material to stock
- Disassemble and pump oil from leaking transformers
- Take oil samples from electrical equipment to have tested for PCB's
- Clean up / dispose of hazardous substances
- Evaluate / analyze when and what to order using information systems, lead times, experience, judgment, inventory levels, interaction with users
- Determine / schedule delivery dates, review prints / job documents
- Contact vendors to expedite materials / services needed immediately
- Order, receipt for, transport propane fuel and vehicle oil, gasoline, diesel fuel
- Issue production orders to have special items fabricated
- Order / deliver hazardous materials
- Conduct inventories
- Perform weekly cycle counts
- Initiate, investigate, verify, adjust, maintain documentation of discrepancies in stock balances
- Determine stocking levels and reorder points
- Execute inventory reduction strategies at the storeroom level
- Clean, sanitize, inspect, schedule, maintain safety equipment
- Maintain and store records and materials
- Dispatch / schedule / prioritize materials, services equipment, personnel to various locations
- Initiate / reconcile documentation associated with payments / accounts payable follow-ups
- Initiate and perform minor building maintenance and repairs
- Perform functions e.g., set up meeting rooms, moving office furniture, snow removal, etc.
- Handles timesheets and acts as dispatcher for Steam Services
- Periodically test backup generator
- Monitor / maintain underground fuel and oil tanks
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of warehouse and powered industrial truck experience or an Order Picker with greater than one year of experience is requiredApplicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving.
