Summary
The Benefit Specialist is an entry-level position ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others and thrive in a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting members by managing their eligibility for health and pension benefits, ensuring accurate data entry, and delivering exceptional customer service. You’ll interact with members, providers, and internal teams to resolve inquiries, process documentation, and maintain benefit records.
Fluency in Spanish is required, as you’ll be assisting a diverse member population.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understanding of the plan rules for eligibility / pension as outlined in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for each fund.
- Collect completed forms and add all members and their eligible dependents to the BeneSys computer system and any / all outside carrier systems. Send requests for additional documentation on incomplete enrollment forms and / or denial with rights to appeal.
- Audit vendor reports and invoices on a monthly or weekly basis.
- Determine qualifying events and notify member / dependent of COBRA rights.
- Prepare and mail eligibility correspondence including but not limited to enrollment forms, enrollment packages and self-payment notices.
- Scan and index documents into document storage system.
- Provides exceptional customer service via phone and email to internal and external customers.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications

Hourly rate ranges from $31.00 - $32.00. Actual rate dependent on location, skills, education, experience and other business factors.
