Job description : Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Dietary Manager to oversee the dietary department in our assisted living facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all nutritional needs of our residents are met through effective management and supervision of dietary staff. This role requires a strong understanding of nutrition, patient assessment, and the ability to create tailored care plans that promote health and well-being.
Duties
- Manage the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring compliance with health regulations and standards.
- Conduct patient assessments to evaluate individual nutritional needs and preferences.
- Develop and implement care plans that include dietary recommendations for residents.
- Oversee tube feeding procedures and ensure proper administration as per medical guidelines.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations to monitor residents' health status related to nutrition.
- Supervise dietary staff, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into overall patient care.
- Manage departmental budgeting, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining high-quality service.
- Stay updated on current trends in dietetics and nutrition to provide the best possible care.
- Will be able to obtain CDM certification in 18 months of employment
Skills
Strong background in assisted living environments with a focus on patient-centered care.Proficient in patient assessment techniques and developing individualized care plans.Knowledgeable in tube feeding protocols and dietary management practices.Experience in diagnostic evaluation related to nutrition and health outcomes.Proven management skills with experience supervising a team in a dietary setting.Excellent health coaching abilities, guiding residents towards healthier lifestyle choices.Solid understanding of physiology as it relates to nutrition and dietetics.Strong leadership capabilities, fostering a collaborative environment within the dietary department.Effective budgeting skills to manage departmental finances responsibly. Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.Be a graduate of an accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association.Must have, as a minimum five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.Must have training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.Must be registered as a Dietary Supervisor in this state.Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public.Must be knowledgeable of food services practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing food services functions in nursing care facilities.Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department.Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of food services service areas; must perform regular inspections of food services service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.This position requires the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.Generations Healthcare was founded upon the belief that caring for the sick, the elderly, and the infirm is a special and sacred stewardship.
